Alopecia Areata, just like Psoriasis, is an auto-immune problem and often co-exists with Psoriasis. When the problem exists along with Psoriasis in adults, it often clears up as the Psoriasis lesions are cleared through our treatment, which targets the symptoms of both conditions independently.
However, as alopecia is related to different genes, and is a totally different condition with different causes and triggers, it may continue to cause symptomatic issues indefinitely after the psoriasis symptoms are cleared, and it needs to be dealt with separately.
When alopecia occurs in children, however, the process is a little harder and may significantly resist treatment, but we often obtain significant symptomatic relief as well in children.
